Privacy Policy

Aperture CSS ("the Extension") is a Chrome browser extension for inspecting and editing CSS. This privacy policy explains what data the Extension collects and how it is used.

      Summary: Aperture CSS does not collect, transmit, or store any personal data, browsing data, or page content. Everything stays in your browser.
    

Data We Do Not Collect

The Extension does not:

Collect or transmit any browsing history, page URLs, or page content
Track your usage, analytics, or behavior
Read, access, or transmit passwords, form data, or cookies
Inject ads, trackers, or third-party scripts into web pages
Send any data to our servers or any third parties (except the LemonSqueezy license validation described below)

How the Extension Works

Aperture CSS runs entirely within your browser as a content script. When activated on a page, it:

Reads the page's DOM and CSS stylesheets to display style information
Applies temporary style changes that exist only in your current session
All processing happens locally in your browser — nothing leaves your device

License Key Validation

If you purchase a Pro license, the Extension communicates with the LemonSqueezy license API to validate your license key. This is the only network request the Extension makes.

Data sent to LemonSqueezy during license validation:

Your license key (which you manually enter)
A randomly generated instance identifier (UUID) — not linked to your identity

Data not sent:

Your name, email, or any personal information
Any browsing data, page content, or URLs
Any device identifiers beyond the random instance UUID

LemonSqueezy's own privacy policy applies to data they process: lemonsqueezy.com/privacy

Data Storage

The Extension stores the following in chrome.storage.sync (synced across your Chrome profiles, never sent to us):

License key (encrypted by Chrome's storage system)
License activation status (active/inactive)
Instance identifier (random UUID)
Last validation timestamp

You can clear this data at any time by deactivating your license in the Extension popup, or by removing the Extension.

Permissions

The Extension requests the following Chrome permissions:

activeTab — To inspect CSS on the current tab when you activate the inspector
scripting — To inject the inspector UI into web pages
storage — To store license activation status
clipboardWrite — To copy CSS properties to your clipboard when you use the "Copy CSS" feature
host_permissions (api.lemonsqueezy.com) — To validate Pro license keys

Third-Party Services

The only third-party service the Extension communicates with is:

LemonSqueezy (api.lemonsqueezy.com) — For license key activation and validation only. No browsing data is shared.

Children's Privacy

The Extension does not knowingly collect any data from children under 13.

Changes to This Policy

If we make changes to this privacy policy, we will update the "Last updated" date above. Significant changes will be communicated through the Extension's Chrome Web Store listing.
